Covid Safe Plan
The Laundry Lady Covid Safe plan outlines the measures that Laundry Lady contractors, and their employees/subcontractors must follow when servicing Laundry Lady customers.
Hygiene practices:
- Contractors should wash their hands with soap and water regularly, especially after using the restroom, before eating, and after coughing or sneezing.
- Alcohol based hand sanitiser should be readily available in contractor’s cars for regular use during pickups and deliveries.
- Contractors should avoid touching their face, nose, and mouth. Contractors should cover their nose and mouth with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing and dispose of tissues immediately.
- Using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks is recommended.
Collection and Delivery of Laundry:
- Contractors should avoid entering customers' property and touching surfaces at their premises where possible. Use disposable gloves if necessary.
- Contractors should avoid physical contact with customers and maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters wherever possible. Contactless delivery should be offered for vulnerable customers where possible.
- While masks are not mandatory, contractors should wear them if they are experiencing symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has Covid-19.
Laundering, Cleaning and Disinfection:
- High-touch surfaces, such as door handles, light switches, steering wheels and equipment, should
be cleaned and disinfected regularly. - Regular disinfection cycles should be completed on your washing machines and steam stations - check your manual for a guide (for example this might mean a 90' hot wash after every 40 washes, cleaning the sole plate of your iron, regularly washing and changing the ironing board cover - your manual will recommend the best way to do this for your equipment.
- Provide vulnerable customers or customers in settings where there could be high risk of cross-contamination (eg medical clinics), the option to have items hot washed rather than cold washed. Ensure customers understand that this may result in shrinkage or colour runs. Settings like medical clinics may require items to be washed at 60+ degrees. Check with the customer about any specific requirements.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks is recommended.
- While masks are not mandatory, contractors should wear them if they are experiencing symptoms
or have been in close contact with someone who has Covid-19.
Screening Measures
- Contractors are encouraged to self-monitor for Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, cough and
difficulty breathing. - Contractors who experience any symptoms are advised to stay at home, seek medical advice and
follow the Laundry Lady procedures for managing your calendar when you are sick. - Contractors who test positive for Covid-19 must inform Laundry Lady and any customers serviced or booked for services immediately. Contractors should cancel any bookings and not service customers until they have recovered.
This plan will be regularly reviewed to ensure that it remains effective and up to date with any new health guidelines. Any
necessary changes will be made promptly and employees and contractors will be informed of the updates.
As per the recommendations of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, although Covid-19 vaccinations are not mandatory it is advised. For further information on these recommendations please visit
