Ironing Services

  • All clothing must be hand ironed with a suitable steam station iron (use of a standard iron is not acceptable and will not produce quality results).
  • You may only use a steam press on linen if suitable (this is optional, hand ironing is acceptable). A steam press will not be suitable for clothing.
  • All clothing should be hung on hangers. If the customer provides hangers use theirs, or you can use the wire hangers (included in the starter kit). Ask customers to recycle hangers wherever possible.
  • Customers may sometimes request clothing to be folded instead of hung, ensure that clothes are folded neatly and to avoid creases where possible.
  • All linen should be folded neatly after ironing.
  • Extra long dresses may need to be hang in the middle of the dress for transportation if longer than the hanging area in your car.
  • All items should be placed into the branded Laundry Lady garment bag for return delivery, which the customer can reuse on future services. Also provide the customer with a branded laundry bag for the next service to place the un-ironed item for collection. Never take baskets from a customer as they can get broken or clothes mixed up.

Q & A:

Can I stop doing ironing and only do washing jobs?

Yes you can change your capacity to only accept washing jobs. But before doing so, please make sure you consider that this will seriously impact your earnings. Customers can select 3 different service types at time of booking: Washing, Ironing, Washing and Ironing. If you turn off ironing you will be limited to only one service type "Washing only", which is only 1/3 of service types! With only 1 out of 3 service types coming to you, it will take a lot longer to build up enough customers to reach your earning targets. Many of the larger customers like Airbnbs will not be able to book with you.

The real benefit of our Laundry Lady service offering, is that you can be doing an ironing job, while you have a washing job in the machine, which also increases your earning capacity over a shorter period of time. Add to that that a lot of customers want both washing and ironing done at the same time.

One of the great features of the digital booking system/App is that you can alter your capacity. So if you have both ironing and washing capacity, you can alter it so that you accept more washing then ironing or vice versa to help balance your schedule more effectively to work for you.

Of course we know for some f, physically or time-wise they can only do a limited number of ironing jobs. But for everyone else, find your favourite Netflix series or podcast, have the washing machine running in the background, and iron away!
