How to use the Roster

The Roster should be used to turn yourself off for online bookings on any days that you can’t work, are on holidays or already at capacity for bookings. Note that if you need to make changes to your regular scheduling availability you’ll need to contact us to do that for you. The roster is just used for temporary changes.

The Roster will only turn off online bookings. If you have existing bookings in the system for that day, you will need to contact the customer yourself to rearrange their booking.

Public holidays are all open for bookings as some contractors decide to work these. If you do not want to do pickups on a public holiday you will need to turn off the roster for that day. It’s also important to touch base with customers who have a regular booking that falls on a public holiday as they may be going away or be closed for business or forget!

FAQs about the Roster

Now that contractors can manage their capacity in the new system, is the customer booking system also changing for customers to let contractors know how much washing or ironing they have?

Great question! At this stage, we haven't added options for customers to estimate their capacity at time of booking, as this info can become out of date very quickly for recurring bookings (and customers can sometimes be inaccurate at estimating how much they have).

One of the next stages of developing the system further next year will be building a customer portal login, and then we will be looking in more detail about what we can ask customers about capacity and preferences. Stay tuned!

Calendar adjustments

Can the calendar be adjusted on a daily or as-needed basis? I like to change regularly, depending on my current workload.

Yes, contractors can also adjust capacities themselves in the Roster section per time window. This is just for temporary changes that you can do for a day-to-day basis. So this might be what you use to manage your team's time more precisely each day.

How do I stop bookings on a day?

You can block the whole time window by going to the Roster, clicking on the green block, and then selecting the 'not available' toggle in the pop up window.

Can I stop doing ironing and only do washing jobs?

Yes you can change your capacity to only accept washing jobs. But before doing so, please make sure you consider that this will seriously impact your earnings. Customers can select 3 different service types at time of booking: Washing, Ironing, Washing and Ironing. If you turn off ironing you will be limited to only one service type "Washing only", which is only 1/3 of service types! With only 1 out of 3 service types coming to you, it will take a lot longer to build up enough customers to reach your earning targets. Many of the larger customers like Airbnbs will not be able to book with you.

The real benefit of our Laundry Lady service offering, is that you can be doing an ironing job, while you have a washing job in the machine, which also increases your earning capacity over a shorter period of time. Add to that that a lot of customers want both washing and ironing done at the same time.

One of the great features of the new system is that you can alter your capacity. So if you have both ironing and washing capacity, you can alter it so that you accept more washing then ironing or vice versa to help balance your schedule more effectively to work for you.

Of course we know for some contractors, physically or time-wise they can only do a limited number of ironing jobs. But for everyone else, find your favourite Netflix series or podcast, have the washing machine running in the background, and iron away!
